Accessibility statement

Our commitment

We want everyone to be able to read this site and get in touch with us, including people using a screen reader, a keyboard alone, voice control, a magnifier or a browser set to reduce motion. Accessibility is part of how the site is built rather than something added at the end, and it is part of how we build for clients too.

The standard we aim at

We build towards the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at level AA. We describe this as our target rather than a certification: no automated tool can prove conformance on its own, and we have not commissioned an independent audit of this site. If you find something that falls short of that target, we would like to hear about it and we will fix it.

What we have built in

• Semantic HTML, so headings, lists, navigation and forms are announced correctly and the page still makes sense without styling.
• A skip link to the main content, and a logical tab order through every page.
• Visible focus on every interactive element, including buttons sitting on an accent color.
• Text contrast checked against the surface it sits on, in both the light and the dark presentation of the site.
• Every overlay on the site, including the navigation drawer, can be closed with a visible control at least 44 pixels square, with the Escape key, and by clicking outside it. Focus returns to whatever opened it.
• Motion is decorative only. Setting a reduced motion preference in your operating system stops the animation on this site, and nothing is hidden behind an animation.
• Descriptive alternative text on photographs, and no text presented only as an image.
• Form fields with real labels, errors described in text rather than color alone, and inputs sized so a phone browser does not zoom when you tap one.
• The page reflows without a horizontal scrollbar down to a 320 pixel wide screen and at 200 percent zoom.
• An accessibility widget in the corner of the page for text size, contrast, reduced motion and link highlighting.

Known limitations

Some pages load a booking calendar, a contact form or a chat widget from a third-party provider. We choose providers carefully, but we do not control the markup inside an embedded widget, and we cannot guarantee it meets the same standard as the rest of the page. If an embed blocks you, email us and we will take your booking or your question by email or phone instead, with no disadvantage to you.

Accessibility on the sites we build

Every website we build for a client is built the same way, and ships with its own accessibility statement. Doing this helps a business meet the expectations that apply to a public website, and it makes the site usable by more of the people who want to rent from it. It is not legal advice and it is not a guarantee of compliance with any particular law. If accessibility is a specific legal requirement for your business, have your attorney review the site before launch.

Telling us about a problem

Email hello@rentalwebstudio.com with the page address and what happened, including the browser or assistive technology you were using if you know it. A person reads it, you get a reply within one working day, and we treat an accessibility barrier as a priority fix rather than a queued request.
