GoDaddy Website Builder or a managed website for your fleet?

It is the path of least resistance, and least resistance is not the same as the right fit. Most rental owners meet the GoDaddy builder because their domain is already there and adding a site is two clicks. GoDaddy currently documents four different builders, which is itself worth knowing before you pick one: the classic Websites and Marketing builder, the GoDaddy AI Website Builder, Airo AI Builder and Airo for WordPress. Importantly, GoDaddy states that the GoDaddy AI Website Builder is being discontinued on 31 July 2026, with those customers moved to the classic Websites and Marketing builder. For a specialist fleet, the deeper issue is that these are template and section editors aimed at a general small business, and a rental fleet is a content architecture problem.

The short answer

  • GoDaddy documents four separate builders today, which makes it easy to end up on the wrong one without realising it.
  • GoDaddy states the GoDaddy AI Website Builder will be discontinued on 31 July 2026 and those customers will be moved to the classic Websites and Marketing builder.
  • The classic builder is template based with manual section editing, and GoDaddy describes its AI features there as limited.
  • SEO is presented as a guided wizard rather than full technical control, and GoDaddy itself warns that changes can take weeks to affect rankings.

Side by side, on the twelve things that decide it

Read the middle column as what the other option gives a rental fleet, and the right column as what a managed build gives one. Anything in the middle column that is a statement of fact is sourced at the bottom of this page.

When GoDaddy Website Builder is the better choice

Written honestly. If one of these is you, we would rather you kept your money.

  • You need a placeholder todayA brand new operation that needs a page with a phone number and a photo while the business gets going. The builder does that in an afternoon and it is already attached to your domain.
  • One vehicle, one location, one phone numberIf the site is really a business card and the bookings come by phone, spending money on a managed service would be wasteful and we would tell you so.
  • You want one billDomain, email and site on one account has genuine administrative appeal for a small operator. That is a real benefit even though it is not a technical one.

When a managed build wins for a rental fleet

The cases where the difference is structural rather than a matter of taste.

  • A fleet is more than a pageSix classes, three counters, seasonal rates and terms pages need an architecture. A general small business template editor is not built for that, and no amount of section dragging turns it into one.
  • Continuity you can count onHaving four builders in the product line, one of them with a published end date, means an owner can find themselves migrated without asking for it. A managed service is one stack that does not get retired underneath you.
  • Search work that goes deeper than a wizardA guided wizard fills in fields. Ranking for a campervan search near your city comes from page architecture, internal links and content published over months, which is the part the wizard cannot do.

Keeping the domain where it is

You do not have to move your domain to work with us, and there is often no reason to. We can point your existing GoDaddy domain at the new site by changing only the records the website needs, and we confirm every change with you before it happens so your email is untouched. If you would rather we took the domain over, we will register or transfer it in your name and hand it back free whenever you ask. Keep the GoDaddy plan running until the new site is live and you have approved it, then cancel it so you are never paying twice.

Fleets who made this decision

  • Renters used to call and ask what was even included with a weekly hire. Now the rate page answers that before they pick up the phone, and the calls we do get are ready to book.

Questions about GoDaddy Website Builder

Is the GoDaddy Website Builder good enough for a car rental company?

For a single vehicle or a very small operation that takes bookings by phone, it will do the job. For a fleet with several vehicle classes and more than one pickup point, it is thin, because the builder is a general small business template editor and a rental site is really a set of related pages that have to be designed to work together.

Which GoDaddy builder am I actually on?

GoDaddy documents four: the classic Websites and Marketing builder, the GoDaddy AI Website Builder, Airo AI Builder and Airo for WordPress. Their help centre has a page specifically for working out which one you have, which tells you something about how easy it is to lose track.

Is the GoDaddy AI Website Builder being discontinued?

GoDaddy states it will be discontinued on 31 July 2026 and that customers on it will be moved to the classic Websites and Marketing builder. If you are on it, that is worth planning around rather than being surprised by.

Do I have to move my domain away from GoDaddy?

No. We can point your existing domain at the new site by changing only the records the website needs, and we confirm it with you first so your email is unaffected. If you prefer, we will take the domain over and register it in your name, and transfer it back free whenever you ask.

Will my email break if you point the domain at a new site?

No. Pointing a domain at a new website does not touch your email records. We change only what the website requires and we tell you exactly what is changing before it happens.

How good is GoDaddy SEO for a rental business?

It is a guided tool that helps you fill in information about your site, included with their marketing plans and most Websites and Marketing plans, and GoDaddy itself warns changes can take weeks to show. It is a reasonable starting point and it does not do the structural work, which is the page architecture and the content published over months.

Can I keep my GoDaddy site while you build the new one?

Yes, and you should. Nothing is switched off until the new site is live and you are happy with it. Only then do you point the domain and cancel the old plan, so there is never a gap and never two live sites competing.

What if I already paid for a year of the builder?

Then let it run out if you want to. We do not need you to cancel anything to start, and the build fee is only invoiced after your new site is live and approved, so you are not paying for two things before either one is working.
